    Table Etiquette [Dear Beaker]

My boys are now of an age where they are starting to bring bints delightful young ladies home to let me letch at introduce to mater & pater
Eldest is currently studying medicine oop North & turned up with a lass from Liverpool that is also on the course - very shaggable pretty, well spoken (but with a slight scouse twang) and obviously on her best behaviour - what really shocked me was the way she held her knife and fork during meal times, both were held in the wrong hand and the fork used as a shovel.

Now I was was bought up on a Northern council estate but had table manners drummed in both at home and at school from a very early age - it appears that this generation is not aware or chooses to ignore social conventions as I also see it more frequently in UK restaurants and on certain TV programs
    Is it important ?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Not as much as being able to spell.

I've got a mate from Liverpool who holds his knife like a pencil. I've never said anything and he ignores my scowls.

I'd never criticise somebody who is holding a knife

Unless you were holding a gun.

If he's a scouser just be thankful he is not lifting the bowl up to his face, especially if he doesn't trouser it on the way out.

How very lower-middle class you are.

She is clearly utterly depraved. Which means he's having much better sex more often than you. Lucky lad.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Well the 'correct' way varies between countries - in the USA fork is in the right hand, and you swap hands when using the knife to cut.
