Dunno if I am the only one thinking this but if he did raise taxes but actually make a difference with that money then I would say not raising them is a pretty stupid policy.

So he won't increase fuel, tobacco, alcohol duties? Or more likely he'd say those ain't taxes!
It does not matter what he promises anyway because he won't be elected, the only reason he is saying it to tell everybody later - look, you should have elected me instead!!!
Mind you if we do end up with politician who keeps his promises they'd probably have him stuffed and kept in a glass case as an example to future generations of a truly unique species
That might be his intention now, but the economic situation changes monthly, let alone two or three years away. Let's see what happens when the eurozone problems rise again.
