Cameron to unveil online porn curb

I mis-read as 'club' rather than 'curb'...

As you're going to have to opt-in to still see porn, then it is effectively a club. If they're clever, the ISPs will sell the opt-in list to porn marketers (not to mention special branch).
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

The twat was talking about making “companies like Google prevent such search results. They are clever so they can find a solution…” Does twat Cameron think that all search engines are under his power? I don’t think Yandex will listen to him.

I do think its reasonable for google etc to default to searches that don't have adult content. Try searching for 'cute pussies and then think that could be an innocent 10 year old. Its not hard (well not until you have visited dome of the results) but it will need something to force Google etc to turn down the advertising revenue / actively exclude the search results. A law saying they should will allow them to blacklist the sites with reasonable legal immunity.

If you want a hand shandy there are plenty of way to find sites.

I do however worry they will over legislate and make porn on the web effectively illegal in the UK driving suppliers out of business, and extending it to niche fetishes etc.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

His heart is in the right place. His head seems to be firmly wedged up his arse though.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

When they operate in the UK they are under "his" power. He does have the power to block sites from access via the UK, or could gain this power anyway. For instance if Yandex returned results for "child porn" all ISPs would be forced to block it.

Question: how is "porn" determined in this context? Is it going to be like workplace filters which block some entirely legit sites, or will it be specifically for porn sites rather than sites which might contain some dodgy stuff?

Cameron's anti-porn plans: problematic in practice, but right in principle. Conservatives aren't libertarians. The Tory Diary

the conservative party are discussing this at this link, rather interesting to see their comments

WDDS, the principle is good but the massive problems they will have with implementation, the ramifications on privacy and the wider issue of where this will stop are massive.

First they came for the porn surfers, but I said nothing for I was not a porn surfer.

The ramifications for legitimate sites which inadvertently get blocked is worrying.
