    Modesty bags

The Co-operative has given so-called lads' mags six weeks to cover-up their front pages with sealed "modesty bags" or be taken off sale in its stores.

The 4,000-outlet retailer said it was responding to concerns by its members, customers and colleagues about images of scantily clad women on covers.

    Legal threat

"The so-called 'modesty bags' they are demanding from publishers are designed to allow the Co-operative to continue profiting from sexist, harmful lads' mags - but just a bit more discreetly."

I am wondering when we turned into this new puritanical police state.

In all fairness, I don't want my young kids reading the kind of headlines they have 'Kayley at her sexiest, filthiest ever', 'Amber confronts her addiction to sex', 'Chardonnay and her loveof group sex', etc, etc, etc. I don't necessarily think it's about becoming more and more puritanical, but more about having a bit more decency, for it's not as though the standards haven't changed over the years, more they've definitely slipped. They're as close as you can get to porn mags really; would you like Babestation to be available night and day, for it's the same content, just different media.

Does this mean I'm going to have to start wearing a modesty bag when I go nude shopping in the Co-Op?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Well we're one step away from having a Witchfinder General by the look of it

Surely this is the free market in action. A business is responding to customer demand and placing conditions on its supplier.

I don't want my five and two year old girls exposed to lads mag front covers when we're out shopping.

I've never heard of the pictures on the front of Zoo being described as "Modesty Bags" before.

                  Fun bags, yes.

Well actually no, its hypocrisy at its finest, there is no talk of newspapers or womens magazine who have bikini shots or get the perfect body etc over their front page cover, its a cheap shot as no one can look reasonable countering the idea without looking sexist.

I am offended by fat women in lycra, am I allowed to have them banned too?
