4 weeks notice, when to tell?

I have 4 weeks notice but I already know I'd be leaving end of Sept.
My fear was if I told too early, my contract would finish sooner than I'd thought.
Now that we're close to that time, I think a few days early will look better.
Should I tell the agent first so that he has time to prepare a replacement?
We have a good relationship for now but he's just like any agent I guess.

Should I propose a sub? (I don't have anyone with suitable skill at the mo, but who knows right?)
Should I tell them why? (other than a better paying contract elsewhere)

Tell the client first and at exactly 4 weeks. Then tell the agency immediately after.

If you know a replacement talk to them before you talk to either parties.
