Scotland has the second largest GVA per capita out of the four countries in the UK

"However, revenues from North Sea oil and gas is not included in these figures. If it was, Scotland would have a larger GVA per capita than that of both England and the United Kingdom as a whole."

Just been reading last night about Scotland is broke if it goes it alone yadda yadda posts on the times last night. So I decided to do some research of my own. Pleasantly surprised what a wealthy country Scotland is -

Scotland’s GDP per Capita Ranking against OECD countries in 2011 - 9 places ahead of the UK.

Presumably most of the GDP comes in benefits from the rest of the UK

The estimates were produced using the following sources:
o Annual International GDP per capita data produced by the Organisation for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD). These figures are available from the OECD
Statistics web site (the series used is GDP per head, US $, current prices, current
PPPs): OECD Statistics (GDP, unemployment, income, population, labour, education, trade, finance, prices,health,debt...).
o Estimates of annual Scottish GDP levels produced as part of the Scottish National
              Accounts Project (SNAP).
The latest figures are available at:
The Scottish National Accounts Project (SNAP).
o Scottish and UK population estimates from the 2011 Census which are produced by the
National Records of Scotland (NRS) and the Office of National Statistics (ONS):
              http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/census...om/index.html; and
o Annual GDP estimates for the UK are also produced by the Office for National Statistics
(ONS). The latest estimates of annual levels of UK GDP can be found in the Quarterly
National Accounts, which are available at: http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/publicatio...tcm%3A77-23645
              No Bias then?

lets hope they are then when they go it alone the UK won't have to bail them out again.

It's what you might like to think. But take Scotland out of the UK and the UK per captia falls 14 more places down the OECD list. You'd think with all those benefits Scotland is receiving the UK would move up the list not down it!!

.Apparently Scotland has an engineering industry growing at a faster pace than anywhere else in the UK.

                  Gross Value Added = GVA

Thanks for proving what an incompetent fool you are. If you want to do real research you ought to look at real data not some biased Scottish political crap, which even they admit are estimates, and include on-shore oil processing which is confined to Aberdeen.
Take Aberdeen out of the equation (Porsche to pop ratio there is similar to City) and Scotland sits somewhere between Portugal and Greece.

Plenty of evidence to show London and the SE as the real generators of wealth in the UK
