    Where to buy in London

    Hi all,

I want to buy my first place in London and was wondering where can I buy that:

    - has the feeling of central london
    - is within easy commute of the city and canary wharf, preferably by bicycle or a non-central line tube journey
    - I won't get stabbed / robbed / raped
    - costs between 350 - 400k for something better than a studio flat
    - will increase in value at a reasonable level compared with the rest of London

May be able to get some more if I can convince someone to take into account my girlfriends 22k tax free phd stipend (ends next year and she'll have to get a job / postdoc).

    Thanks!

      Kill Joy

What part of central london do you want it to feel like? Seriously - every 3rd street is a different area?

Archway is reasonably good value and is up and coming, or Peckam, Nine Elms (Northern line being extended to there).

Just the 'hustle and bustle' element. For example, Kentish Town feels quite Central whereas Wapping, where I am currently renting, doesn't (despite being a 25 minute walk from London Wall).

North london is a hell hole. You work at London wall why not live there - some nice flats in the area. What about Pimlico, Clapham, Wandsworth area?

I moved around wapping for 4 years, s'nice - but I dont like people so prob more suited to me am next door now.

Or Shoreditch (though I doubt that you cope cope with it's more Bohemian residents...).

Or Clerkenwell if you're that worried.

You won't get much in Clerkenwell for that budget
