    Pop Quiz

A little contemporary music quiz for all you CUK pop pickers to get your teeth into this damp, miserable Wednesday morning.

    1) US cities. What city completes this lyric "Hot dog, jumping fire .."?
    2) In terms of Abba hits, what is unique about Does your Mother Know?
    3) Three animal connections:
Lead singer of the Grateful Dead
    Lead singer of Canned Heat
    Lead singer of The Doors
4)Lipstick by The Buzzcocks and Shot by Both Sides by Magazine. What's the connection?
5)A stinker for you. In 1978, who left Knoxy to join Roxy?

    No Googling now!

Yes, correct. Taken from the song The King Of Rock and Roll by 80s Geordie popsters Prefab Sprout.

Yes indeed - it's essentially the same song with different words and a different title. In fact, Magazine's Howard Devoto was a one time member of The Buzzcocks

Right, I see I've stumped you all on most of these so here are the answers.

              1) Albuquerque
2)It was the only Abba hit on which the men were on lead vocal duties
              3) Pig (Ron "Pigpen" McKernan)
              Bear (Bob "The Bear" Hite)
              Lizard (The Lizard King)
              4) Same tune
              5) Gary Tibbs (left the Knoxy's Vibrators to join Roxy Music). He also featured in the early 80s classic Adam and the Ants line up.

                I see I've always misheard no. 1.
I presumed it was a bit of a nonsense song; "Hot dog, jumping frog, I love cookie".
