    I'd say Symantec have gone to hell, stayed for a chat with Lucifers left knee cap, left to go home for tea and promised to visit the knee cap the following morning...wash rinse repeat.

      I'm with you; I finally got sick of them and ditched them for AVG Soho Edition at last renewal. I get two computer's worth for two years for a lower price than Symantec charge me for one year on one PC. AND it doesn't bring my system grinding to a halt.

        AVG is good....my personal preference is F-Secure for firewall/AV.

        For spy/ad/mal ware - Spysweeper from Webroot.
