    Movie recommendation wanted

I'm looking for inspiration for a movie night with some friends.

They generally like my sort of movies which include:

    Where is Alice Creed
    anything by Tarantino
    The Departed
    Crash
    The Usual Suspects
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
    Memento
    Shawshank Redemption
    Into the Wild
    Léon
    Road to Perdition
    No Country for Old Men
    Mystic River

    I'm looking for:
-movies that have a good plot, or a clever twist to the plot
    - the sort of movie that at the end you think "thats just brilliant" and then recommend it to all your friends

    I'm not looking for:
    -a romcom
    - anything with Sandra Bullock or Ben Stiller is banned
-a movie that leaves you feeling depressed
-anything related to porn (gf will be also watching the movie along with several other friends)

    any ideas?

The boy in the striped pyjamas is somewhat depressing, isn't it?

      I recommend:
      The Life of Pi
      Terminator 4
      Moon
      The Time Traveller's Wife.

            Elliott Gould
            Christopher Plummer

Watched a film I had recorded about Carlos the jackal recently (the 70s terrorist) called, surprisingly "Carlos the Jackal".
Excellent: had all the stuff I like: intelligent, but full of action, set in several countries, an examination of terrorism in the 70s and the people it attracted, also quite cool is the 70s vibe and gear. Never a dull moment.

It sounds like you have a similar taste in films to me:

                    Trance
                    Side Effects
