£1000 a night, Dodgy wouldn't get into bed for that!

    Sex & Taxes eh?

£1000-a-night call girl who was jailed for tax evasion after using prostitution to fund her degree to sell Knightsbridge home in bid to repay £175,000 court order
Donna Asutaits, 30, worked as a prostitute to fund a masters degree
She made so much she could afford deposit on £360,000 flat
When police raided her home they found £73,000 in cash and jewellery
Jailed for 16 months last year after admitting cheating public revenue
Has three months to pay £174,243 or face another two-and-a-half years

    so any sympathy?

Just realised who she reminded me of:

£360K doesn't buy much of a flat in Knightsbridge these days, although perhaps she bought it years ago.

Her big mistake was leaving cash and valuables kicking around in her flat - It was bound to attract muggers and thieves like HMR&C.

I wonder what her sentence would have been had she stolen the money from somewhere, rather than earning it honestly and for a commendable motive like furthering her education.

If prostitution is illegal, how is an honest girl on the game supposed to pay her share of taxes? Seems a bit arse about to prosecute her for tax dodging.

Its one of the examples you always learn doing accountancy exams, they've thought of this one long ago and probably as much with the Al Capones of this world in mind than just wanting to tax everything

Prostitutes are duty bound to pay tax, so are dominatrixes, escort girls, massage parlours etc etc

What would be interesting if someone actually doing something illegal made a tax return, as HMRC still have a duty of confidentiality.

I wonder if any drug dealers have diligently filed their annual tax returns...

I think she dressed down for the court. A quick visit to la Sensza and the makeup counter and she would probably look pretty good.

Have you seen any of the top models without makeup? A lot of them look really rough. Many starve / workout for shoots.

BIM65001 - Measuring the profits (particular trades): prostitution

If the activities of a prostitute or any other person deriving income from prostitution are organised in such a way as to constitute a trade or profession, the profits are liable to income tax. This was confirmed by the ‘Miss Whiplash’ case, CIR v Aken [1990] 63TC395.

If you are investigating such profits you must refer to EM2097

Top models are artificially skinny to the point of ugliness. I don't know what hookers cost but to me £1000 sounds rather high-end, she looks like a cleaner!
