    Farnborough drinkies

Who'd be up for a Farnborough get together?

    Edit: Proposed date: 7 November
    Venue: 'The Station', Fleet.

    Me!

Is there anywhere to go? I've done Aldershot and got out alive, full of banjo-twanging simpletons and wandering Dead Souls (Ghurkas). Not fun.

Dunno. I have no social life, and what little I do have tends to be Reading based.

Ham & Blackbird by the station roundabout is fairly central, and last time I went there (about 25 years ago!) was OK.

The Ghurka Palace is very good for a Ruby? As far as drinks are concerned, there is nowhere that I would like to drink in F'boro.

I had a few drinks in the aviator when working down there and it was quite pleasant

And VERY pricey. Generally F'boro is not a pleasant, green and verdant town. Why anyone would pay a premium to drink there, I wouldn't know? The Swan is well located, but the staff are less than useless (Stek and our team went there last week for lunch and the drinks for 12 of us took 20 minutes to arrive). Overpriced food too (Burger £11.95)

Yeah and there no real drinking run, just the odd crap boozers dotted about miles apart.

Aldershot has a street in town with a few on it but it's depressing to say the least. The Yates' there is one of the few places I've actually stuck to the carpet. (Last week)

Farnham looks nice tho but the feckin taxis here are a rip off.

I suggest we get 24 tins of Special Brew, sit in a bus stop and go Ghurka-baiting, then get some chips and watch them tulipting in the park.

Fair point on the cost. There was a pub on the corner but was a bit rough. It was a few years ago so I might have forgotten.

If central's not important, then there's the Crown and Cushion/Meade Hall at Minley - again haven't been for years, but is a beautiful old place, but not walkable from anywhere.

HAVE YOU TRIED OUR NEW PUB - THE CROWN & CUSHION, MINLEY?

The Meade Hall bit used to be open for general boozing when there wasn't a function - dunno if that's still the case, but the pub was good too.

Been to the Swan Inn and the Aviator (with GF#2) - happy to comply as long as it's not the H&B!
