Oh dear, HMG want to create mass road tolls

    BBC
In a leaked letter in the Sunday Times, Transport Secretary Douglas Alexander will seek powers to create toll roads across the UK to combat congestion.

Local authorities currently set charges - such as London's - but in the letter Mr Alexander says he should be able to set simpler national standards.

"The main purpose of the bill would be to support our efforts to cut congestion and improve public transport, particularly in the major cities outside London," the letter said.
Another pig in a poke, to no discernable benefit, that will cost you and me.

I feel sure there is a mistake there, Shouldn't that be...
"The main purpose of the bill would be to protect the erosion of tax revenue caused by people switching to more fuel efficient vehicles or to lesser or even un-taxed modes or transport," the letter said.

So long as they charge EDS or Accenture with actual implementation you can be damn sure it won't be anytime soon, heck if they can't get bloody child credits working then how can you expect those clowns create massive distributed system for all cars in the UK?
