Dreamliner. Is this the new DC10?

Dreamliner left with gaping hole mid-flight after eight-foot panel falls off fuselage
    Brace, brace, brace!!!

Perception is everything. If you knew you were going to fly on a 797 would you be happy about it?

question is where was the panel last removed & secured?
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Is there any way to ensure MF is always booked on Dreamliners?

At the very least, that would give the planes a decent stress-test.

        No

That's what did for the DC10 in the end.
The cargo door fell off one quite early on, but since they landed it and only a few people died, it didn't cause too much bother.

Then the engine fell one because of unauthorised engine change procedures (used to cut costs).

Then the cargo door fell off the Turkish airlines one that Douglas was supposed to have modified during production (but didn't)

And that was appart from that uncontained blade failure and the Kiwi one that flew into Mt Erebus.

Didn't Concorde locationally lose a 6ft piece of tail? IIRC it used to just fall off mid flight, it didn't seem to do much so I'm surprised they kept putting it back on.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
