Holland and Barrett are responsible for the delivery of the item even if they outsourced it to Hermes.

The owners were stupid they should have took the dog to the Vet and presented Holland and Barrett with the bill.

That was due to the crap they were feeding the dog.

Personally I can understand why the delivery man chucked the parcel over the fence but least he will learn if he sees a "beware of the dog" sign to leave the parcel with a neighbour or a "sorry you were out" card with a neighbour.
