If a good deal means at the best possible price then no. If it means keeping the lights on, then yes. But buying when you have no viable alternative is not a bargaining position of strength. You will also note the ones banging on about the cost are the ones that put us in this stupid position in the first place.

Seems they've gone to a lot of effort just so they can say it isn't a public sector project, even though by guaranteeing the investment it may as well be.

It probably is a good deal though, given that it'll be 10-15 years before this thing comes online who'd want to bet against the wholesale price being double what it is now?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

The NIMBY's need to realise that Nuclear is the only logical option for long term, sustainable power production, and if they bleat on about the safety issues they need to remember that Fukishama was the result of the fifth most powerful earthquake since records began, a magnitude 9.0!!!!

Why don't we build more wind turbines?

Why not move to a place where there's plenty of cheap power?

And they work even less when it's not windy.

                    WMS

Although WVMS as well. After 15 years of energy price inflation, it might be seen as a good price.

Important thing is, we're doing something.
