Why doesn't searching for all posts from a user who hasn't been active for a while work?

eg. Go to View Profile: wendigo100 - Contractor UK Bulletin Board

    Then click "Find all posts"

You get one post from 2006

          Let's unpack that shall we?

          a) Misplaced faith in the site search facility
          b) General incompetence
          c) Thick
          d) IT illiterate

Pick on of the above only. This question is worth 5 marks.

My keylogger tells me admin was typing you a reply but has quit the window. He's currently posting some replies on his mumsnet sockie so I wouldn't hold your breath for a response today.

Whoops, must be the dodgy keylogger software you infected me with, it's knobbled my 'e'.

Sometimes, things that people have said in the past are relevant today.

For example, if you want to read the discussions that people had about whether it was worth leasing a car or not, then doing a search for "ratty hatchback" gives you some interesting results.

Occasionally, I can't remember everything that people said, and I wonder whether people just disappeared (as wendigo100 did, I think) or whether they flounced and stayed away (as TLG did). Searching using Google doesn't give you that information easily unless you specify a date range.

Searching for posts by a user on a forum is different from searching for keywords, which generally sucks on vBulletin. At what point does the search function here cease to work - if it doesn't work reliably, then what is the point of having a search function in the first place?
