Could be worse you could have started with Minolta and watch Sony get bored with the a-type mount...

I plan to wait until Canon launch a full-frame 40 megapixel camera and then replace my old Canon

Shouldn't be more than a year or so now.

        I can't laugh, I had a Canon T90....
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Why on earth would you want a 40 megapixel camera?

The Nokia lumia approach. The combined pixels make for a better picture with less noise.

              WHS

Is there really going to be much benefit compared to a full-frame 22MP camera like the 5D Mk III?

But that's 41mp on an 8.8 x 6.6mm sensor. On a FF sensor that would be more like 700mp to get the same benefits of oversampling.

I don't think Canon will push the sensor resolution much higher for some time TBH. The top end 1D actually saw a reduction in megapixel count over the last generation and unless you have a LOT of money the weak link in the chain at the moment is the lenses, which is why they have been redesigning a lot of them lately.

To actually acheive the same resolution as a film SLR finally in a consumer DLSR
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

The pixel wars only really comes into the low end beginner cameras when hobbyist think that more is better
