View Full Version : Where are they now?

The mention of post counts on the old board has set the Fleetwood nostalgia flag to "on".

Whatever happened to the legendary posters on the old board?
OBL25, Roger Rabbit, HHH, DBNO, a guy with a caravan, SupremeSpod (who started the "poster in (select mode of your choice) mode" phenomenon, Doug Walters (an ex-colleague btw),and Mr Deflation himself, Janek...

Does anyone know?
Does anyone care?
Does anyone have a favourite poster from the EzBoard days who is (sniff) no longer with us?

FiddleAbout - if it was not for him I would not have scored 15k posts so quickly, now look at my pathetic post count http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif

I mentioned him, but he was most entertaining. People used to go on about "pF" a lot as well, but he was before my time.
Also, David Contractor Jnr was a laugh, with his stories of coke-fuelled orgies in China on a grand a day tax-free.

Sums up how I imagine most of this board to be ... I used to play an online MMORPG a few years and there was an associated BB, where people posted their pics. Very feckin scary is all I can say.

I do play an online MMORPG and it's still just as scary. Can be fun playing spot the spotty male geek / teenager playing the hot, scantily clad female charecter though :)

Male, early twenties. The whole Leroy Jenkins thing was a set up by the guys involved as a spoof of the kind of idiocy that does go on in these games.

The story is explained here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leeroy_Jenkins)

And for the record, I dont play WoW :)

Feck me, the world moves on quickly. 3 years out of MMORPG's and that's complete news to me.

WoW any good? I spent (Wasted) years playing AC, Lineage and DAOC, got an impeninding baby so might be time to dip my toes in again.

AtW
9th August 2006, 13:36
DAOC

DAoC is top, pity I had to force myself to stop playing because you have to play everyday otherwise your online partners there will get to way too high level for you to fight with :(

These days I only play Red Orchestra - can come and go quickly, no committment.

DaveB

I play FFXI when I have time to waste on it and CS:S when I dont :)

Dont know much about the other MMORPG's around. WoW is certainly flavour of the month atm but seems to suffer from growing pains.

FFXI is excellent if you are a fan of FF in general and is a stable and mature game now. New content on a regular basis and plenty to keep you busy. The downside is the grinding required to level your charecter and crafting skills. Requires more time to get to the level cap than WoW from what I've heard.

<hold up hand>

Yup, I play WOW. I've played it since it's release in Feb 2005, on an almost daily basis. Thankfully Mrs BGG plays as well. We've had tremendous fun so far, plenty of new content to keep you busy (10,000 quests, 5K per side). Challenging at all levels of play. Easy to get in to...impossible to put down (just another 10 mins...lol).

We run our own Guild on a server, with a bunch of mates we have known for the last year. All mature players, in either age or outlook. No "ZOMGNINJA PWNS LEET KIDZ WITH MADSKILLZ" in our guild. Just good mates who like to help each other and have a few beers and have a good game.

We have our own domain name for the website, plus we hire a Teamspeak Server so we can chat real time on raids and hunts (and work more tactically together).

As for "problems"...nah...all the teething "new game" problems went after the first 6 months or so. The game runs fine. 5 million players and counting...WOW is the definitely the biggest and best (to date).

We did try DDO when it came out as we love D&D, but that WAS seriously buggy and had about 3 days worth of content to keep you interested. Might revisit it in a year or so. Until then, and until Saga of Heroes, it's WOW FTW ! (For the Win)

Fleet,
Like Alf W said after the dot con burst many of us were suffering the aftermath. James and co. started the original board (the one before the old board). PF was a legend and suffered the wrath of the revenue. Poor guy. Never knew what happened at the end due to him getting banned on all forums (including PCG).

OBL25 was working in Geneva and was ganged up on by his Swizz colleagues. He was ejected from there.

The Rodgerer Of Rabbits was hilarious and gave good accurate tax advice. Got done by his work place. This site is on their prohibited list of web sites. Jokes about his Russian wife were funny (not mail order - HONEST !).

HHH gets banned within 1 hour of coming back on here. Fiddle did some funny photos of HHH.

MikeTheBike always denied having a caravan :)

Did you want me to continue because this will get long ?
Honourable mentions to:
Fiddle/Threaded. The picture archives are classics waiting to be discovered by new memebers on here !!

The farmer invasion. Pappy what-his-face. The ultimate champagne socialist. Think prescot but with 20 houses.

Alexei. The other one. I always thought he was AtW's brother but he wasn't.

DebbieReinvented. First online accountant for us lot. Shame she sold it and lives in Italy now. She had pics and it's a nice pad !!

Rebecca Loos. Probably legging back to Kiwi land with all her tax money :)

The Valentine poem contest :)

I could go on but you're bored I know :)
Niall, Stephen Rees, etc. have all being mentioned already.

We've had a number of versions of the board. There was a board pre-2005 as well, but our present Admin took over then.

At the possibility of being incorrect and as usual possibly out of turn, James Leckie I believe was the founder of the board those many many years ago. The site changed hands in 2005/2006???

Now we are just posting pawns and only a few know who Admin is. Or as he likes to call himself No 1!!!!

Who is No 1 ????
