    VOIP Engineer
    London - GBP 120 per Day
    • Design and support VoIP infrastructure and its associated software, including IP-PBXs, call management systems, voice mail, and interactive voice response.
    • Where necessary, plan for management or phasing out of Legacy telephony systems and other switch-based technologies.
    • Select, deploy and utilize appropriate tools for reporting and routing of IP telephony traffic on the network.
      Knowledge & Experience
    • Collaborate with help desk to resolve trouble tickets and mitigate end-user issues with VoIP hardware and/or applications.
    • Perform telephony audits as necessary.
    • Train and mentor junior engineers and other members of the team.
    • Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for VoIP traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telephony systems. Monitor Standard Voice System traffic at least monthly to maintain adequate Capacity.
    • Collaborate with network engineers or administrators to ensure that VoIP traffic does not interfere with or hinder network data traffic. Conduct traffic analysis for all phone systems at least quarterly to assess Capacity
    • Conduct testing and development disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and backup systems.
    • Work experience in VoIP installations using Cisco hardware and software
    • Knowledge of configurations on the Cisco Call Manager, UCCX, ARC, Tiger etc.
    • Experience with Unity Connection and Presence Server (CUPS) - installation, upgrade and troubleshooting
    • Plan, install, operate and maintain all applicable Standard Voice Systems, perform onsite support for operations as required.
    • Remotely monitor alarms sent by any phone systems, perform emergency and routine services in response to critical and non-critical Incidents.
    • Perform backups on Standard Voice Systems.
    • Program network-wide configuration features such as special digits, routing, trunking and system speed.
    • Determine the current utilization of all Standard Voice Systems at least monthly. If utilization has exceeded the threshold, providing notification within one week of discovery.
    • Coordinate voice mail network attachments and detachments with Third-Party Vendors.
    • Perform security audits and configuration parameter reviews, and making password changes on all Standard Voice Systems at least bi-annually.
    • Replace Standard Voice System components proactively according to manufacturer's published mean-time-between-failure rates.
    • Provisioning all call detail reporting (CDR) records from all Voice, Mobility and Conferencing Services.
    • Provisioning summary and detail reports for phone usage associated with Voice Services.
    • Provisioning a means for staff to obtain current detail information on a given phone set or a group of phone sets.
    • Reporting Charge-back phone usage on a monthly basis based on the requirements.
    • Working technical knowledge of VoIP/IP telephony systems, software, and hardware, including private, public, circuit-switched or packet-based infrastructure
    • Strong hands-on knowledge of the configuration and optimization of VoIP equipments.
    • Strong hands-on knowledge of SIP, H.323, TMS, MX300, TCP/IP, C60/40, MCUs etc.
    • Strong understanding VoIP QoS issues and mitigation strategies.
    • Experience with Cisco Switches and Routers.
    • Familiar with network topologies such as Frame Relay, ATM, ISDN, etc.
    • Ability to operate tools, components, peripherals, and testing accessories.
    • Migration of Voice traffic to VOIP infrastructure
    • Management of addresses, voice numbering and dialing plan.
    • Call accounting of Standard Voice, mobility and Conferencing Services
    • Configuration, installation, testing, operation and maintenance of call accounting systems (database, PC hardware, system and application software)
    • Administration and Maintenance of a system to manage voice directory information which reflects all numbers in accordance with the dialling plan.
    • Support Voice Recording Equipment & Services as dictated by business (Experience with RedBox would be an added advantage)
    • Support on-demand playback requests from Authorised Users in accordance with the Service Levels.
    • Provisioning, configuration, installation, operation, support and maintenance of all Conferencing Systems including Meeting Place.
    • Manage and coordinate all Third-Party Vendors associated with the provision of Conferencing Services.
    • Install Third-Party Vendor-supplied fixes to Conferencing Systems.
    • Immediately initiate action to pursue any Incidents with the ISDN
    • Provide a reservation-less and operator-assisted collaborative audio Conferencing Service that permits subscribers to manage sessions through Internet-based and PSTN-based interfaces.
    • Point-to-point conferencing via Cisco telephone desk/handsets; and Cisco Jabber messaging based conferencing.
    • Operate and support web-based conferencing services that permit subscribers to collaborate online
    • Knowledge of Cisco video conferencing technologies and equipment.
    • Perform appearance and preventive maintenance visits to all conference rooms and all Video Conferencing (VC) Rooms.
    • Support technical and non-technical users, VC and AV requests and meetings.
    • Setup, break-down and support meetings where audiovisual equipment is being used.
    • Operate audiovisual systems and equipment during meetings whenever required.
    • Plan, organize, coordinate and execute technical video conferencing.


    Formal Education & Certification
    • College diploma or university degree in the field of telecommunications or computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
    • Certifications in Cisco products especially CCVP

        A decent painter can earn £180 / day

        That’s equivalent to low / unskilled site labour (based on a 12hr shift)
