    Warts and all

Interesting, I wonder how much they're making out of Suity's ailments. Must be a few bobs worth there alone.

    MedRed BT Health Cloud (MBHC)

    WHAT IS IT?

The MedRed BT Health Cloud project is creating one of the largest open health data repositories in the world in order to help improve quality care, enhance patient safety and speed the development of innovative drugs and medical technologies.

Designed to meet the unique needs of the life sciences and healthcare industries, MBHC – which has been officially recognized by the Obama Administration as a high-impact Big Data Research and Development Initiative – makes available rapidly expanding United States public data sets and integrates them with open data from the United Kingdom and other healthcare systems. The result is an invaluable tool for health outcomes researchers, academics, pharmaceutical companies and others looking to analyze and optimize public health and healthcare delivery.

    COLLABORATION HISTORY

The roots of the MBHC collaboration trace back to decisions made by the US and UK governments to make de-identified data sets from publically supported health agencies – such as the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in the US – publically available. Data of this kind currently incorporated in the MBHC beta release includes several years of de-identified population health data from England, Scotland and Wales, as well as de-identified aggregate information from hundreds of other UK and US data sources. It includes information on physician encounters, acute care interventions, pharmacy history, and health outcomes.

Based on the BT Cloud Compute platform, the MBHC beta release is already being used by pharmaceutical companies and universities to help develop new drugs, identify new indications for existing therapies, correlate outcomes, examine comparative effectiveness, and establish best care practices.
