    I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

        It's well known that benefits are better under socialism.

            JG,

            Don't confuse the poor sod.

            I would say the chief benefits of socialism is as a buffer to help protect against 'the unacceptable faces' (or is that faeces) of capitalism.

            Mr. Churchill said ...

            "The inherant vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings;
            the inherant virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."

              Or even - “Capitalism and communism stand at opposite poles. Their essential difference is this: The communist, seeing the rich man and his fine home, says: 'No man should have so much.' The capitalist, seeing the same thing, says: 'All men should have so much.'”

                Most capitalists, seeing the same thing, do not say: 'All men should have so much.'

                They're more likely to say, 'I should have so much' and not comment on what others should have.

                Hence the unequal blessings bit.
