    Thanks to the Today programme

At 6:50 this morning they started talking about vCJD.

The mother of Claire McVey spoke.

Which, naturally, leads one to google and to find this:

    An unthinkable death

    Stone me.

    Horrific.

    Interesting table:

I remembering reading about it in the 90's, it was all over the papers about a potential epidemic. Looks like it is almost gone.

On Today this morning the professor who spoke was talking about the possibility of a huge percentage of people incubating it, with incubation periods of up to 50 years. Not out of the woods yet.

        Which is a happy thought.

It certainly ain't over yet coz the fat lady definitely hasn't sung.

I'd give it at least 100 years, if not more.

        Oh lovely.
Just one of a long line of "there is no evidence....".
Smoking was once said even to be healthy.
Sugar is not yet sufficiently demonised.
vCJD could be lurking for a lifetime.
In non-chemical areas, long-term results from mobile phone masts everywhere are some way off yet. I'm sure they're safe really.

I do know that we'll all die, I'd just rather it were later.

Either not out of the woods, or the prof was looking for continued funding.
