I like a traditional tree, but there are some really elegant ideas out there.

This is our Christmas tree from 1967, me on the left.

Tree was marked 'Made in Biafra'

I quite like those first ones. I never bother with a tree as I have cats who seem to make it their mission in life to push it over as much as possible. It has one hour looking good followed by a few weeks looking progressively more battered!

Our cat leaves the tree alone but knocks all the baubles on the floor and then scatters them around the house. We find them under things the rest of the year!

I like those but, as d000hg says, it wouldn't survive the cats. Zipmog02 has started on our tree already (which is why the ornaments are wooden)

                ^ That's very true!

I tried it one year and they just destroyed it, plus I'm concerned they'll eat the tinsel. They have aged a bit though so maybe I should try again - these days they rarely do more than wander from the food bowl to the bed and back again, maybe batting the odd fly in between. They come alive for lasers and chicken!

It's go to be a real tree to make it worth while...
