    My new pig

    I got a new pig on sunday. and two lambs, they are in my chest freezer in the garage.

    I am getting a quarter of a heifer in january.

    that should keep us going for a year or so

    A mate got bought a pig by his missus as a wedding gift, along with a (basic) butchery course.

    Kept it (the pig not the missus) in the local butcher's freezer and just used to pop in from time to time to hack a bit off.

    Great idea I think.

          I wouldnt like the hacking bit, i dont think.

          but the bottom line is
          lamb £6.50 a kilo
          pork £2.20 a kilo

          beef will be c £6.00 kilo

                Seems to me like asking to end up eating way too much meat to be healthy.

                Sort of like my occasional stunt of buying a huge beef joint in a supermarket, as it is marked half price and thus irresistable, but then having to wolf a huge portion of it despite the packet saying "serves 6 to 8"

                (although one can wrap what little is left in silver foil and freeze it to make a beef curry next weekend)
