Rise of the slow driving early morning commuter

Current gig means I'm up and off to train station early. Seen it a few times now and always different people (I think).

I don't bomb around when I drive but if I'm up at the crack I like to get where I'm going (especially if I've got a train to catch!). Up until about 7am near me there's hardly any traffic on the roads.

A few times now though I've been stuck behind people doing 25mph, rolling up to junctions slowly, stopping for ages etc. Generally, driving very slowly and cautiously. Not the same person there seem to be loads of them.

All I can think is there are people out there who can't cope with driving in rush hour so get up early when theres no traffic so they can toddle on to work at their own pace?

And the problem with that is...?

Maybe they're driving home after a long night out? Best to take it carefully under those circumstances.

Maybe they're chilled out people happy with life, enjoying a calm and relaxing drive to work.

        Or are still half-asleep.

This bugs the hell out of me. I've not done a daily driving commute for over 4 years until this role. Back then, leaving at 7 meant that the roads would be empty - not anymore. Today I was driving by 6:45 and still managed to be stuck behind somebody doing 25 down an empty road. Who managed to slow down so much on the approach to the lights that they had ample time to switch to red.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

WHS. Bleary eyed after a 12 hour night shift, driving can be hard work.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I get this too - albeit only very occasionally. Most recently it was an old bloke in some fancy brand new uber-chav AMG something. 25 in 50 limit, 25 in 30 limit, 25 in national speed limit, most odd.

Driving standards are just getting worse and worse these days. I don't cope well with it and it puts me off extended commuting in the car. I'll lean to stay over or train because of it.

Similar to you in the national speed limit sections on B roads I do like to press on but the tulips that drive 40-45 mph in them which you can't pass then drive 40-45 mph through a 30 mph village for you then to catch back up and not be able overtake...repeat 4 or 5 times and I am spitting feathers!
