Should have taken them up the Arsenal instead.

Why is someone being prosecuted for taking food from a bin? OK, obviously, because there's a law against it, but come on, the stuff has been thrown away anyway.

Is this because garbage collection is now a business, perhaps paid for by the kilo and so theoretically this takes revenue from the garbage collector?

Nah, they are web designers. Think trendy, bearded, spectacle wearing hipsters doing the freecycle / freegan think cos "it's more ethical man". They probably think going through the bins at Iceland is "Ironic".

Even so I think it's silly to prosecute them for this.

The owner of iceland is trying to find out.... He claims to have not been aware of the prosecution prior to it hitting the papers but pointed out that the food would not be edible as otherwise it would have been disposed of elsewhere...

The fact that the monkey was neither french nor a spy and in fact was just a monkey highlights the effects of having a nuclear power station on your doorstep with chemical works nearby...
