    Borked Temperature control on Shower

So, moved house, and temperature control on the shower is so calcified, it has got stuck at 50 degrees.

It seems that despite removing the calcification on the outside it's still pretty bad inside.

Any suggestions on what might budge the control.

( and yes I have bled the radiators )

    Never heard Borked before!

How about the stuff used for descaling kettles?

Karcher steam cleaner, brilliant device, certainly clears the limescale from your taps without to much trouble

You may have to turn off the hot and cold water to the shower and dis-assemble the shower and clean the parts.

Spray WD40 into the crack around the neck of the thermostat. It should push all the crap back out as it penetrates inwards.

Why not try soaking the whole shower head in a saucepan of lemon juice overnight?

(with the saucepan rigged up near the showerhead, so you needn't dismantle it)

Repeat each night for several days if necessary

It's the temperature not the shower head.

                    If it's one of these

                    then
                    • Disassemble
                    • Either soak thermostatic cartridge in acidic solution

                    or
                    • Buy new thermostatic cartridge
                    • Reassemble

                    If it's one of these
                    • Disassemble
                    • Discard
                    • Buy and fit new one
