Offer of a perm position with the company

Just had the call from HR asking what my future plans were and whether my preference would be to come on board as a full time employee as that would be theirs. Apparently they want the security of having the knowledge in house etc.

I explained that I would rather stay as a contractor and she replied that she would speak to MD about it.

Argh - warchest is low and Mrs MUN is currently recovering from an operation. I was so wanting to reduce stress levels for the next month or two!!!

Couldn't you spin it out by saying your Mrs might have to move for her job, and as this could happen within the next 6 months to two years you couldn't commit to a permanent job at the moment as you might have to move long term, but that you'd be happy to stay as a contractor

In other words try and kick the can down the road by bluffing any way you can
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

I had that conversation here and went for the kicking the can down the road option by agreeing in principle. It being a corporate behemoth they brought in a headcount freeze before they got anywhere near quoting numbers at me.

I'd shown willing, wasn't my fault it didn't happen so I could merrily carry on as a contractor.

Your place might be a bit quicker on its toes but you could possibly spin it out for a while before absolutely having to commit one way or the other.

Yeah. I think this might be the way forward. I think showing the take home difference would be more damaging than helpful. Although I might also mention that I need the money to pay for my daughter to attend a specific school that is really good at handling autistic children.

nothing wrong with being permie if the take home is the same.

you can always dust off your red dress when things change.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
