    Modern mainframes are pretty cutting edge, and they've had features like virtualisation for years.

      I liked COBOL/CICS. I was quite good at it at one time.

      I don't have it on my CV these days.

        Reminder, my COBOL chap make £1000+ a day (paid by the hour some days he makes £1500) as highest paid programmer of them all.

            Thats me, that is 30+ years and still going strong, and it pays better than your UNIX/Linux/MS malarky nowadays due to that fact

              I started trying to into this at my last permie job, the biggest issue was not being able to sit at home and have a play.. cant just spin up a mainframe vm!

                Wish there was still that demand for BBC Micro skills. I'd be quite happy to be paid shedloads for doing 6502 assembler
