Friday 21st March will see the biggest football-based charity event in the history of the contracting industry…

Contractor accountants Nixon Williams are taking on IR35/insurance specialists Qdos in an inaugural footballing spectacle.

The match kicks off at 5pm at the UCLan Sports Arena (http://www.uclan.ac.uk/uclan_sports_arena/) in Preston.

The game is in aid of Sports Relief, so please feel free to donate. If you can get down to the game you would also be most welcome (particularly if you’re supporting Qdos, as it may be a rather partisan crowd).

In most cases it's more tax efficient to do it personally as it extends the basic rate band by the gross contribution.

So lets say you wanted to give £1,000 to the cause (generous guy that you are!) you would pay £800 personally which would extend your basic rate band by £1,000. This would mean that you could take an extra dividend for £900 based on the £800 contribution. :banana2:

We analysed the game whilst sitting in a dirty Blackpool karaoke bar on Friday night. The conclusion was that NW were quicker, fitter, stronger, more organised and generally much better at football than Qdos. But other than that it was a close run thing.

Martin was definitely NW's star player - a beast of a left foot.

Every part of me still hurts. I'll psych myself up to watch the video later.

In situations like that, there's only one tactic to employ - in with the heid!!!

Then you help them up, apologise, shake their hand, and when they're not expecting it, in with the heid again!
