If I were CMD I'd be tearing the benefit staff to bits.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Comment

Rather than being honest and reducing the level of benefits it does rather look like they are using sanctions insteadSocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

Interesting point was some of the sanctions & deprivations drove people into work. I'm not condoning it, sounds quite barbaric but it suggests that pushing people does mean they get work.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Comment

I gave up at the point the chap said he never had enough money for food but it would have been too stressful to give up fags.

There were two main thrusts:
1) Lots of people who had done nothing wrong were having money stopped because of various cock-ups. The money was reinstated on appeal, but this could take weeks/months.
2) Even where people were 'undeserving', it's not right to starve them.
Perhaps next time you sign on you could request food vouchers rather than JSA.Comment
