Boomed - but not sure I want to be

Pity. Probably in terms of working environment and people, the best client I've ever had. In terms of rate, by far the worse.

Two weeks to go and 3 month extension offered. Should be happy I guess. Still one week notice and the guy knows I might go at any time.

Well you're damn well getting a even if you don't want it!

You know what to do; take the extension and use the time to look around. Anyway, if it's a good place to work then chances are you can put some good stuff on your CV as a result.

Never mind old buddy it's all about taking the rough with the smooth, besides I'm sure it pays more than most jobs in Wales

He should be because he's Welsh, but he maybe slightly English which is probably why he comes across as miserable

I'm in a similar position - the rate here is rubbish compared to what I'm used to - was on 450 a day in london and now on 280, but its commutable so that saves me about 100 a day. I spotted an advert for a role at this place with a similar skill set to mine and I applied. The people I work for then said that thye will increase my rate and tag an extra couple of months onto my current contract. I assumed that this extra would have been within the rate range of this other job, 320 -350 but I found out yesterday that they were planning to give me an extra 20, so still fairly low. On Wednesday I had a telephone interview which went well so I might well be offered another role today for a job that isn't commutable, but one where i could get back a couple of nights a week. The rate on the new role is not great (375) but its a fair bit more than the increased one - Ok I'll have to fund 2 nights in a hotel but I should still be pulling in 1000 a month more on this other job compared to my current one.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                  I preferred version 1!

Even crap rates are better than permie rates. (Unless you're MF, of course! )
