Estate Agents up to their old tricks

We here at AS Financial seem to be seeing a lot more of this in the last couple of weeks and it needs to be stamped out immediately.

Hopefully this practise will soon be banned as it's completely uncalled for.

Estate agents charging thousands in new fees in hotspots such as Walthamstow - London - News - London Evening Standard

Walthamstow is a tulip hole, that shows how crazy the housing market is in London
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Not sure I see what the problem is. If buyers are stupid enough to pay then fook em.

Bigger issue is continually rising prices. Help to buy was a huge mistake. Tax relief on BTL should be abolished. Tax on second homes.

But then the economy would collapse - the housing market + immigration are the only things keeping the economy going.

Isn't that the point about London - that tulip holes with good connections and good housing stock don't stay tulip holes for long?
There is a not-so-subtle economic "ethnic cleansing" going on all the time in London - ethnicity is only involved in so far that some ethnic minorities are poor.
        Hard Brexit now!

          But:-

"She claimed the total paid by a buyer was the same as under the conventional system, as sellers tended to seek a slightly lower sale price because they did not have to pay commission to the agent."

Obviously it depends on the fees, but if the vendor isn't paying fees and the buyer "premium" is in effect the same as a sole agency fee is it so bad? Surely it isn't really any different to an auction?

There is still a huge East/West divide and that is unlikely to change.

As a chronic BTL'ler I just had to look up Walthamstow on rightmove.
Apparently there's now a Walthamstow Village , an estate Agents invention if ever there was one.
And prices are about £400-£500K for a small terrace

Don't see the problem. If the price is too high then take your custom elsewhere.

We seem to live in a bizzarro country where people think that others somehow owe them their services/products at the spec they want, for the price they want.

Its called trade - one isn't obliged to participate.
