    Happy Birthday WWW

    25 today

BBC News - Sir Tim Berners-Lee: World wide web needs bill of rights

Note to journalists almost everywhere: it's the web's birthday not the Internet's.

It's really Arpanet that led to the web, everything else was a matter of time
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

I wonder how many billions of dollars/pounds/your favourite currency has been lost by people everywhere having to say "double-u double-u double-u" rather than something more concise? Sir Tim has a lot to answer for.

www is basically the set of protocols used to share stuff on the internet. So the internet existed before the www, but www is HTML, HTTP, URLs etc and the stuff that has made the internet what it is today.

The innernet, as I understand it, basically started as some kind of military wide area network and it later evolved into the www as we know it today.
