Clarissa Dickson Wright has died. She was my favourite fat lady.

Thought this was going to be another self loathing thread.

          Oh no!

I loved them both and I loved their no-nonsense traditional recipes.

Clarissa was a great countrywoman and I met her a couple of times at the West Doset Show in Melplash.

She showed me how to dress a rabbit.

Honest, warm and friendly - unlike some of the vacuous individuals masquerading as foodies on the box these days.

          RIP

I found her story of coming out of a massive booze blackout at the Falklands war victory parade and not knowing there had been a war pretty fookin' impressive. I think she lost weeks or months.

Never very impressed with her cooking, but she certainly had some quality stories of drinking!

I agreed with much of her Countryside campaigning - but she was always going to be facing an uphill struggle to be taken seriously on that with some people having squandered -

                A £2.8 Million inheritance

and been declared bankrupt numerous times.

She was certainly a character and a one-off though.

I always liked their cookery programmes, pretty entertaining.

If UKIP are the answer, then it must have been a very stupid question.
