    Typical England

"Mr McLoughlin said a link to the Eurostar service which runs on HS1 from St Pancras through the Channel Tunnel would "require too many compromises".

It would have cost an estimated £700m. The cost of the total project is currently estimated at £42.6bn. "

Source: BBC News - HS2 will not link to Eurostar confirms minister

Oh FFS, project costs X and for 1.6% of X it can get added super massive extra capability to link up direct with Europe and that's the bit they cut off!!! *********** ********!

You stupid fooks, 1.6% of the cost would have added MAJOR capability to the project and yet you cancel it!!!

Feck me, I agree with AtW!

The most likely reason is that the rail would run through and under Camden, where a lot of rich and influential people live.

High speed in comfort for hundreds of miles across Europe, then in London you and your luggage have to get off your train, and use a victorian era underground system full of thousands of sweaty locals just to get another train that starts a couple of miles away.

        Well done Britain.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
