Turning down contracts is a common occurrence for decent contractors and usually this results in best wishes from the agent as they understand you are capable of getting offers and want to use you in future....
This one time I convinced an agent to put me over at a higher than advertised rate and that it was ideal for me in terms of location. I ended up getting the role ahead of all other candidates but then a rate increase and increased duration at current gig forced me to turn down the offer.
Agent was fully angry at me and thoroughly annoyed (I explained to him that it was my intention to accept the role and I wasn't expecting what happened to come about). I have never felt an agents rage before to such an extent and I didn't want to exacerbate the situation unnecessarily. I remained polite and allowed some time for things to calm down.
I don't like to leave things on a bad note so I tried to contact agent but he was having none of it!
