The ebb and flow of men's beard fashions may be guided by Darwinian selection, according to a new study.

The more beards there are, the less attractive they become - giving clean-shaven men a competitive advantage, say scientists in Sydney, Australia.

TBH I like the raft of beards that are about at the moment. Some guys I know have massive beards and if you can grow a good one I think it looks pretty good IMO.

Does raise the question if a woman met a bloke with a massive beard and he shaved off and looked like Mr Bean what does she do.

Edit : When I mean full beard I mean like Opie off of Sons of Anarchy rather than the two in the picture.

I shaved mine off back in January. I think Jeremy Paxman growing one was a sign it had gone too far.

Being more highly evolved, and thus not hairy like a chimp, I can't really grow a proper beard. It just doesn't grow in thickly enough.
