    The Next MIL Thread

    Well it’s my turn now:

So my MIL, where to start?

OK so when BGG & I started dating (over 2 decades ago now) she was a little disappointed that her little boy was courting someone who wore denim: but she never said a word.

Back in our days of being young & poor she would help out (unasked)

She is always polite, kind and was so very proud when I got qualified

But don’t get me started on going out for dinner: I mean we practically have to drag her out of the house as she “doesn’t want to get in the way as we both work hard & life is for being together” and as for paying for said dinner I have worked out that the only way to pay for it is to pre-pay when booking or there could be a scene at the table. !

Oh & cars: ye gods the one time she nearly shot me was when I offered to take over paying for BGG’s car insurance & was told very politely (but in a cold, firm sort of way) that She has always paid for his insurance & will continue to do so.

She is lovely & I love her.

Sounds like she is way too good for you.

I never got to meet my mother or father in law (or out law, as we're not actually married), they both died before I met ms doodab. Sad as it sounds I'm kind of glad of that in a way.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

That's like going out with my parents. Mrs Eek went to Newcastle with the children and my parents last week. She tried and succeeded (by underhand sneaky tactics) to pay for lunch. Only to have my dad to spend the afternoon in a huff and my mum to insist on paying for the new school shoes 1 eek jr required. They then both got more cash to spend in the lego shop

The strange thing is that if I'm by myself with them they don't mind me paying for three meals. When its everyone for reasons unknown they do..

As for my MiL she's lovely. Little cash but will merrily babysit whenever desired assuming its vaguely plausible. Its a good job too as she's babysitting for 10 days in September....

              Bloody hell. Can I swap?

My MIL will plonk herself down, order her food then not twitch when the bill comes. Never even offers ever.

Even if we go into a coffee shop she'll just go and sit down and wait to be asked what she wants.

The other day wife forgot her purse and she had pay (albeit only in harvester). First time she'd paid for years and it was only £20 or so I think. Strop lasted for weeks over that one.

I think my parents are (well were, there's only mum left now) proud that we were able to take them out to a nice dinner.

Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
