    Dressing to please your mam

Corduroy and checked jumpers are a step too far I think.

As my mum is dead that would a very niche interest indeed
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Hubby always used to put on 'proper shoes' to visit his mother - she didn't like him in his walking shoes.

I saw a man in a tan corduroy suit last week. It's not often you see a corduroy suit these days.

This being abroad and thus full of funny foreigners, men sporting fuschia trousers, leather waistcoats and the sort of whiskers preferred by Kaiser Bill are a common sight but not tan corduroy suits.

Depends which bits of London you hang around. Try Hoxton or Shoreditch sometime, it's full of 'em. Courduroy is still a rarity though, thank God.

One reason I've probably got an irrational dislike of hipsters, that and seeing them in cafes with portable record players
