Following on from the thread about the billionaire giving £5m to the Natural History Museum. What good works would you do if you were a billionaire with the inclination to set up a charitable trust?
I think I'd bung some money to the hospital that's treating me (they could use a new wing and a bigger Oncology ward), and I think the science museum could use some technological modernisation especially around CNC machine tools, composites, aerospace and space and so on, a lot of it is stuck in the 70s, and I'd set up a scholarship for a couple of less well off kids to study Maths at my Alma Mater. I might consider buying them a supercomputer as well, or otherwise donating to the maths computing lab. I used to spend a lot of time in there.
