    How to get into SAP

I have no experience in it. I have no exposure to it.

How do I get a contract in it then? Any ideas.

You know what they say about assumptions!

There are courses but they're approx £500 per day and generally run over a week. Easiest way for a non-SAP person/techie to get into it would be to get a contract doing data conversion or interface work and learn the functional side.

You could always get the free kernel that will run on your home PC and download a book on ABAP to get started.

I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

There is a version of SAP that you install on your PC that contains the gui, kernel and a basic DB. You can then write your own code (ABAP) and it comes with a freely renewable 90 day license. What you don't get is the full SAP DB and all their transactional code.

                Just google Mini SAP.

I assume it's as a programmer that you want to get into SAP rather than a Basis/functional consultant?

                  Get into SAP?

                  Are you mad?

I'd rather die like a proper dinosaur - in a tar pit.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.
