That's my approach, if they contact me, which is rare these days.

They say that the client won't pay that. I say "oh well, thanks anyway" and hang up.

And yes another one just called me (UK based mobile number displayed, so I answered) for another role at Tech Mahindra.
Followed the advise given here and immedioately said my rate is £600 per day and laughed out loud when they said it's €400 per day as it is based in Germany
