Western Antarctic ice sheet collapse has already begun, scientists warn

Western Antarctic ice sheet collapse has already begun, scientists warn | Environment | The Guardian

    ----------------------------------------------
The collapse of the Western Antarctica ice sheet is already under way and is unstoppable. The glaciers' retreat is being driven by climate change and is already causing sea-level rise at a much faster rate than scientists had anticipated.

The loss of the entire western Antarctica ice sheet could eventually cause up to 4 metres (13ft) of sea-level rise.
    ----------------------------------------------

    ----------------------------------------------
But the researchers said that even though such a rise could not be stopped, it is still several centuries off, and potentially up to 1,000 years away.
    ----------------------------------------------

Phew! I was worried there! More coal fired power stations for hotter summers anyone?

My new beach front development on Dartmoor is going to be worth a fortune.
What happens in General, stays in General.
You know what they say about assumptions!

Althouigh in 500 years time we will enter a mini ice age and the antartic ice sheet will be twice the size it is now

        or something else will happen

        etc

Neither us, nor the "scientists" who create this rubbish, will be around to find out....

The trouble with the "climate has always changed" long run argument for inactivity is that the ensuing disruption will be, quite literally, disastrous. We still need to deal with it whether it's caused by human activity or not.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

That's fine but what evidence is there that "doing anything" will achieve anything?

                    Meanwhile in India:

Indian climate boffins: Himalayan glaciers are NOT MELTING

India stepped up its own scientific research after shoddy work was exposed in the 2007 IPCC AR4 report into climate impacts. That report claimed the Himalayan glaciers would disappear entirely by 2035, leading to widespread drought, starvation and migration. It was rubbish, as the unapologetic IPCC chairman Rajendra Pachauri, was forced to admit.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
