    oh dear...

Just spotted this on the bbc sport live text feed...

Just what Roy Hodgson wanted to hear, as England's hotel for the World Cup in Brazil has out-of-date food confiscated from it by Brazilian health and safety officials.
The Royal Tulip hotel in Rio de Janeiro had 2.6kg of salmon, parma ham and butter removed as it was deemed unfit for consumption.
Never mind the food, who chose the hotel?

Snigger. It's part of the Louvre Hotels group. Their other offerings include the Golden Tulip and the Tulip Inn (which may even have spawned the idea for Mudskippers enema thread earlier)

about 3 weeks before the England Football Team get there????#

      Slow news day I imagine!

The hotel is in the center of the city and over the road from a public viewing area which means its not going to be exactly quiet in the evening. There was a previous report about a week ago that it is in fact quite tatty and down market but that shouldn't worry our players who are used to staying in Travellodges and eating at Little Chef

I've stayed in a Tulip hotel. It wasn't tulip.

This is true. I have at least half that amount of leftovers festering in my own fridge.

              Apparently:

“The hotel was also fined for not providing condoms to guests,” continued Procon.

Did it also mention the following tidbit:

The Hotel Portobello, where Mario Balotelli and pals will be billeted during the tournament, had 25kg of pasta, shrimp, salmon and butter seized, presumably by Procon in a dawn raid, as well as ‘24kg of food that did not specify an expiry date’.
