    Tax revenue collected from homeowners (stamp duty/inheritance) and savers will exceed taxes from tobacco and alcohol within two years by the end of 2016, according to Treasury estimates.

    Someone has to pay for it so when the righteous campaign against something, better be careful what you wish for

      And the revenue from smoking still out weights the cost to the NHS from treating smokers...

        They die early so save on pensions / social care costs.
        They otherwise die of something else anyway so may have medical costs for that something else which need to be added into the equation.
