Oh dear: Call to help UK's Polish homeless

    BBC
Action is needed to prevent Eastern Europeans, particularly Polish people, who come to Britain from becoming destitute, a homeless charity said.

Homeless Link found around 15% of the 4,356 people surveyed in day centres and night shelters over one week in London were from Eastern Europe.

Jenny Edwards, head of Homeless Link, told the BBC's Today programme: "Nobody at the moment is doing enough to help the people. They're turning up in homelessness services and it's not where they should be."
How about asking them to go home?

Well, how can they go home if they are homeless?

If they had a home there, why would they prefer to sleep rough in the UK? They can always talk to the embassy and they have to provide transport back.

Because in the UK, they will be given money and accomodation. That is why poor people flock to El Dorado.

It's strange that with all this 'Make Poverty History' malarky, we still have thousands of our own homeless. Now ending that would have been an more readily achievable goal.

P.S interesting that Bono and his U2 millionaire mates are moving some of their operations to Holland to take advantage of tax breaks, having enjoyed Ireland's special tax dispensations for so long, while harrassing the rest of us to contribute more in tax to be given as overseas aid.

Hypocritical little shytes the lot of them.

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

They won't be able to do it for long - UK is a very expensive country where low level salaries are barely enough to live: Poland has got higher affinity with Germany anyway, its closer too.
