Oh dear: "Government 'clueless' over crime"

    BBC
A former senior police chief has branded the government "clueless" on tackling law and order. Ray Mallon, now the directly elected mayor of Middlesbrough, is calling for parents to be prosecuted for failing to keep their children under control.

Mr Mallon's comments were sparked by the case of Ashley Lindo, 16, who was sentenced to just three years' detention after he pleaded guilty to causing the death of Daniel Conroy-Curtin through dangerous driving. The eight-year-old died from brain injuries after being hit by a Rover Metro as he played with friends in a Middlesbrough park in May.

Lindo was already the subject of an anti-social behaviour order and two supervision orders for dangerous driving.
    ASBO - badge of honour!
