Roaming charges to return after Brexit

Not that gammons travel abroad a lot, but those who do have voted to pay huge mobile bills when they go to Benidorm. https://news.sky.com/story/britons-f...rexit-11496063

Why do you think Vodafone was financially backing Brexit?

Brexidiots were warned off this prior to the vote but they ignored the warnings and claimed, as always, that it was project fear. It's their stock response to anything they don't like.

Probably not. Just interesting from the viewpoint of a Conservative conundrum.

On the one hand, they could easily replicate the EU law.
On the other hand, they believe in market forces, and laws to force companies to do something is socialist...
On the one hand, the companies have expressed their desire not to change, so what’s the problem?
On the other hand, they had to be forced to change in the first place by the EU, so are additional laws required to protect against the possibility of change by the telecoms companies?

It might not be very important at all, but it is one of thousands of decisions that need to be made by the government, distracting them from the very real problems that also need to be fixed.

Presumably there will also be less roaming Brits too
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

I drive through France regularly, listening to iplayer radio in the car. Unlikely to do this if it costs a load-of-extra-data-allowance. Sigh.

Don't forget "It's worth the pain".

I imagine they're all also looking forward to the return of those posters in airports explaining the return of the limits of alcohol and tobacco products being brought back. Remember those days 25 years ago when people hid booze and fags their suitcases when coming back from Tenerife and the excitement of not knowing whether you'd be randomly checked in the 'Nothing to Declare' queue.
